Awarding thousands of dollars in college funding each year, the program requires applicants to have a financial need for assistance, to demonstrate academic excellence, and to already be pursuing a degree in computer science, computer engineering, software development, web site design, etc.
In addition, applicants must be have a minimum GPA of 3.0, and must be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents of the United States. Awards are not renewable, but students can reapply to the program each year if the eligibility requirements are being met. The scholarship funds can be used for tuition and fees, books and supplies.
In addition to completing an application, applicants must also submit proof of work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, recommender assessment form, letters of recommendation (optional) and a resume.
Finalists are chosen on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, and honors.
