National Student Nurses’ Association Scholarships are awarded to students currently enrolled in a nursing degree program. Eligible students must be enrolled in a state-approved nursing program that leads to a LPN or RN licensing.
Students are required to take at least 6 hours of course work per semester. The scholarship is based on academic achievement and financial need. The General Scholarship program is open to all students. Career Mobility Scholarships are offered to students completing RN coursework, or LPN's enrolled in a RN program. Breakthrough to Nursing Scholarships are available to students of racial or ethnic minorities.
There are also Specialty Nursing Scholarships for students who want to go into specialized fields of nursing practice. The Promise of Nursing Regional Scholarship Program offers scholarships to nursing students residing in the states of Louisiana, Texas, Maryland, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington.
Students do not have to be members of the National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA) to apply. The scholarships are sponsored by the Foundation of the NSNA, established in 1969 to find funding in order to provide scholarships to qualifying students interested in a career in nursing.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in JANUARY of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,500 - $5,000.
