The American Association of Japanese University Women (AAJUW) Scholarship Program
The American Association of Japanese University Women (AAJUW) Scholarship Program is available to women currently enrolled in an accredited college or university in the state of California. It is open to college juniors, seniors or graduate students.
To apply, students must complete an online application form and submit along with a resume, transcript, and two letters of recommendation. One letter must be from a professor in the student's major field of study. In addition, applicants must complete an essay in English or Japanese that describes career goals and how the scholarship will improve relationships between the U.S. and Japan.
The scholarship is funded by The American Association of Japanese University Women (AAJUW), founded in 1970 to increase education opportunities for women. The organization also supports programs that focus on U.S.–Japan relations and exchange of cultures. The organization has funded scholarships for California women since its formation in 1970.
Students who are awarded a scholarship must agree to attend the annual AAJUW Awards Ceremony in Los Angeles in January. The scholarship does not include travel expenses to the awards ceremony.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in SEPTEMBER of each year, and the award amount is usually $2,000.
